FORUS PRESIDENT’S CHRISTMAS MESSAGE TO ZIMBABWE
On behalf of Freedom Of Rights Under Sovereign (FORUS) party, I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and a great moment of cheer with your friends, family and loved ones.
Christmas reflects our dedication to helping the needy, to giving hope to those in despair, and to spreading peace and bringing joy amongst all. As we share in this joy, and enjoy family reunions, relaxation and reflection, we should remember those that are sick and pray for the Lord’s healing mercies to be bestowed upon them.
As you know, this Christmas is different from previous ones. We are battling COVID-19, a global pandemic that has affected all of us. We have nevertheless been inspired by the kindness and courage exhibited by citizens across the country. Courageous frontliners such as doctors, and nurses have given everything to save lives under very difficult circumstances.
Special thanks to essential services providers who continue to work day and night to protect us and care for us. We are forever grateful for the men and women of law enforcement institutions who helped to enforce discipline during the pandemic and continue to execute their duties assiduously.
We appreciate great work being done by mmembers of the armed forces who serve our country with loyalty and selflessness. We also appreciate health professionals and workers who care for the sick and do their best to promote a healthy nation.
Zimbabwe stands in the twilight hours between the receding gloom of a long dark night and the rising bloom of a new day. I believe that there’s so much more that unites us than divides us. I have witnessed it in communities across the country which I visited that the greatest remedy is coming together and find common ground even in times of trials and tragedies.
This year FORUS launched change mindset campaign which envisages to see and create big-hearted, hopeful and resilient people who look out for each other and who cover each other’s back, and who find strength in our differences, and keep moving forward knowing that we’re all in this together.
The past year has been momentous in many respects. The year saw the entry into Zimbabwe’s political arena and massive traction of our party, Freedom Of Rights Under Sovereign in all the provinces. Our party is an inclusive liberal party with a transformational, social and economic agenda that promotes equal opportunities and a fair distribution of income in a transparent manner.
Our’ pledge is to create more opportunities around the wealth we have as a nation, developing a proper economic transformation agenda that should rebuild the nation to pursue national interest.
FORUS party aim is to see a free and open society where there is balance on the basic fundamental human rights and where there is a guarantee that no one will be enslaved by poverty, corruption or violence. The party values peace, prosperity and the citizens diversity understanding that our role is to nurture citizens to meaningfully contribute towards nation building. We pledge to fulfil democratic values that the others have failed to fulfil and attain.
It is in such difficult moments such as we face today that we all must agree that our future is in our hands. Zimbabweans are the truth to power and the power belongs to the voter. We owe it to ourselves and to future generations to participate in all governance matters in our country. The key governance matters in which we must participate include voter registration, the actual voting and to continuously demand that the government of the day accounts for all its acts of omission and commission.
It is a fact that we are all tired of hospitals without care, schools without desks, families without food, roads without tar, homes without electricity, communities without water, courts without justice, crops without markets, markets without capital, skills without jobs, jobs without wages, and wages without value.
As FORUS, we will have to bring in a new governance culture that inspires confidence locally, regionally and internationally. Institutional independence and transformation, infrastructure rehabilitation including but not limited to airports, roads and railways, energy infrastructure, modern infrastructure with digital and mechanised industrial hubs and to bring back our local expertise that is now scattered across the world because of collapsed infrastructure and breathe life into the productive sector.
To revive the economy, FORUS Party has used its goodwill to mobilize resources to revive the productive sector so that industry begins to function, and in the process spurring economic growth and creating jobs through attracting Foreign Direct Investment and Development partners.
Zimbabwe cannot continue to exist in isolation from the international community. FORUS has embarked on international engagement to bring back Zimbabwe into family of nations. Our aim is to ensure that the nation maintains cordial ties with all countries that regard our power and trustworthiness as a nation to promote the goals that reinforce the economic engagements of African nations, the Commonwealth and the United Nations, searching for development of friendships with all ideological parties in Africa and other countries who share the party’s liberal and majority belief in the rule of law.
As a party, we are open to work with like-minded political organizations who share common objectives, values and ethos, that of developing Zimbabwe towards a convergence going into 2023 elections. We owe it to future generations to work together in confronting common challenges. To us, the most effective leadership today isn’t about technical expertise and having all the answers. It’s about being an accommodative human, showing vulnerability, connecting and engaging with people, and being able to unleash their potential
In the spirit of Christmas, I would like to appeal to all of us to lend a helping hand to fellow humanity by sharing and showing compassion, especially to the vulnerable among us. We are our brother’s keeper and our sister’s keeper. Let’s care for the sick and feed the hungry.
I wish and pray that you all have great festive season and a flourishing 2022. May the joy of this season renew our commitment to building our country and make it great once again.
Merry Christmas and a blessed 2022!
I thank you.
