By A Correspondent- FORUS Party leader President Manyara Irene Muyenziwa has called on other political leaders to prioritise women empowerment as a way of promoting quick economic growth.
Said President Muyenziwa in a statement:
“As the World commemorates International Women’s Day, FORUS Party wants to reiterate that women empowerment should be at apex of national priorities to foster quick economic growth.
Women bear the brunt of nursing children, nurturing families and even fending for children in times of economic hardships.
Women emancipation will remain FORUS’ priority. President Manyara Irene Muyenziwa, being a woman herself, understands the predicament of being a mother and that has prompted her to craft a plethora of measures to support women she will put in motion in the event that she wins the 2023 elections.
Women in Zimbabwe constitute approximately 58 percent of the whole population hence the need to include such a significant percentage into key economic activities such as manufacturing, agriculture, mining and tourism.
The party has lined up some sound and sustainable policies which includes policies to cater for rural women in form of horticulture, rural bakeries, diary farming as enunciated in the party’s manifesto.
FORUS, on this important day, wants to make it clear that women must take a leading role in political affairs, administrative affairs and in economic matters of the nation.
Politicians have been too rhetorical when it comes to women empowerment and next year’s elections present a huge opportunity for Zimbabwe to see how effective women are when it comes to leadership”
