Youths Lament Marginalisation

April 29, 2022 contributer1 No Comments Election, Political

By A Correspondent- Youths here have lamented marginalisation and limited opportunities for their growth adding that the current political, social and economic environment is thwarting their potential towards contributing towards the country’s developmental trajectory.

This was revealed by members of the University of Zimbabwe Disability Support Services Green Club in their engagement meeting with Forus Party leadership including party President Manyara Irene Muyenziwa.

The meeting was held at the party offices in Harare recently.

Said a member of the UZ DSS Green Club:

“Those in power do not give us the opportunities and because of this most youths are looking for opportunities to leave the country instead of contributing towards the development of Zimbabwe. Focus is on leaving Zimbabwe (exodus).”

The youths made a plea to President Muyenziwa to help capacitate them through linkages and initiatives targeting especially young people.

“Help us get knowledge as youths because we are often blamed but sometimes our actions are informed by lack of knowledge.”

The UZ DSS Green Club is an organisation formed targeting students with disability. The organisation was formed by a group of young people after the realisation that students with disability at the UZ came from diverse backgrounds hence they had so many challenges which needed to be addressed.

It was also formed to provide a platform for students with disability to contribute towards a cleaner environment on and off campus through environmental management initiatives such as clean up campaigns among others.

The FORUS party, a democratic political movement will bring solutions to the people of Zimbabwe and build a government that promotes and safeguards an inclusive, fair, free and open society.

When voted into power, a FORUS party led government will balance the fundamental values of inclusiveness, equality and community, where no one shall be enslaved by poverty, ignorance or conformity.

The party champions the freedom, dignity and well-being of individuals, acknowledges and respects freedom of conscience, embraces diversity and nurtures creativity and talent.

We believe that the role of the state is to enable all citizens to attain these ideals, to contribute fully to their communities and to take part in the decisions which affect their lives.

We envisage forming a government with equality and community, transformational solution-oriented and progressive units, democratic, responsive, accountable, and corruption-free government
